The wildlife of the Northumberland coast and countryside is the inspiration for my Tiny Creatures collection. The birds and animals which feature on these pieces are those that I see whilst out walking. They are designed to have a naive simplicity.

The creature shapes are carefully cut by hand from sheets of silver. They are soldered to silver discs, which are then lightly domed, to form a concave shape. The animals and birds have a highly polished finish, contrasting with the textured and oxidised surface of the rest of the discs.

Many of these animals have a wealth of folklore and mythology surrounding them. My favourites are the moon-gazing hares, which are traditionally sacred to the moon goddess. They are strongly associated with growth, rebirth and new beginnings, as is the waxing crescent moon.

The designs in the Tiny Creatures collection are small, neat, and rich with symbolic meaning and associations.
