Latest Designs: Mistletoe

It’s hard to believe that November is nearly over, and that Christmas is not that far off. Apologies to those of you who prefer not to think about it for a few more weeks, but those of us hoping to provide you with gift ideas have to think ahead! With this in mind, I’ve been … Continue reading Latest Designs: Mistletoe

Latest Designs: Wild Creatures

We’ve been living in Northumberland for over a year now, and I’m still regularly thrilled by the number and variety of wild birds and animals that we see. We’re within easy reach of a range of habitats, from stunning coastline to river valleys, farmland to wild moors, coniferous forests to copses of native trees. We … Continue reading Latest Designs: Wild Creatures

Latest Designs: Poppy Flowers

The snow that I posted about last week has finally melted, our broadband connection has been reinstated, and things are pretty much back to normal here. I did use the few days of being snowed in wisely, catching up with some reading, and completing some new jewellery designs. The first are these poppy pendants and … Continue reading Latest Designs: Poppy Flowers

Floral Inspiration

I’ve been making some little animated slideshows, to illustrate how my influenes are translated into my designs. Here is the first, showcasing some of my recent floral-inspired designs. I’ve used an app called Ripl, in case anyone fancies having a go themselves. It’s really easy - just add some photos and text, and the app … Continue reading Floral Inspiration

Latest Designs: Meadows and Flowers

You’d be forgiven for thinking that I haven’t actually made any pieces of jewellery for months. The last time I posted any pictures seems to have been October of last year. In truth, I have been very busy, firstly preparing for craft fairs in the run up to Christmas, then working to replace the items … Continue reading Latest Designs: Meadows and Flowers

Latest Designs: Oarweed Earrings

One of the things I love about working with silver is that it is so versatile. You can use thick wire to create solid, chunky rings, or you can roll out silver sheet until it is incredibly thin and flexible, and form it into flowing, delicate shapes. I took the latter approach with these long, … Continue reading Latest Designs: Oarweed Earrings

Latest Designs: Fern Fronds

These silver earrings are one of my more abstract designs, inspired by the delicate fronds of the tiny ferns that grow in old walls. Their common name is spleenwort, which makes them sound much less attractive than they really are. The earrings have a lovely natural, organic shape, inspired by the later work of Henri … Continue reading Latest Designs: Fern Fronds

Latest Designs: Skylarks

Most of our walks over the past few weeks have been accompanied by the clear, liquid song of the skylark. They are usually heard before they are seen, and are often soaring high in the sky. Too high to get a photograph, I'm afraid! But the sound and distant sight were enough to inspire me … Continue reading Latest Designs: Skylarks

latest designs: sea glass earrings

I still find myself fascinated by sea glass, especially since I gathered a lot of new pieces whilst we were visiting friends in the UK a few weeks ago. I've been wanting to make some earrings for a while now, but I've been held back by the impossibility of finding two identical pieces to make … Continue reading latest designs: sea glass earrings

latest designs: delicate amber

My latest amber designs are these simple, delicate short drop earrings, and co-ordinating choker necklace. The earrings each feature two cognac coin beads, and they hang from a semi-hoop handmade silver wire. The necklace has a centrepiece of three cognac coin beads, together with two tiny, irregular beads in dark cognac. It is completed by … Continue reading latest designs: delicate amber
