I’m Caroline, and I design and make the jewellery in Bilberry and Birch’s collections. I use this site to highlight my work, and showcase my most recent designs, but you can see the complete range in the Bilberry and Birch shop.
I recently moved back to the UK, after being based in rural France for just over four years. I am now living in Northumberland, and finding endless inspiration in the beautiful and varied landscapes that surround me.
My designs seek to capture the simple beauty of natural forms. I work mainly with silver, semi-precious stones, and sea glass, using traditional methods and techniques. Each piece of jewellery from Bilberry and Birch is individually made by hand, and no two items are ever quite the same.
I’m very interested in the mythology that surrounds the natural world, and many of my designs have a symbolic meaning based on the subject that inspired them, and the materials I’ve used.
I learned the basics of jewellery making at Leeds College of Art, and I’ve continued to learn ever since, through practice, experience, a lot of trial and a little bit of error.
I am happy to accept commissions for unique, custom-made pieces, as long as they reflect my style and techniques. If you have a design in mind, please get in touch using the contact form.
