The theme for the May Instagram challenge that I’m still managing to keep up with is Tea Break. Now, there is a topic that is close to my heart. There’s nothing I like better than a trip out, and some tea or coffee and a slice of cake.
Obviously, tea-drinking and cake-eating excursions have been off the agenda for the past couple of months, and look like being so for the immediate future. Which is sad. But never despair, I’ve been getting my cake fix at home, courtesy of The Star Inn at Harbottle, who sell an amazing variety of tray bakes to take away. I usually either walk or cycle over there too, so it’s pretty much guilt free. Here are a selection of the bakes that I have sampled and enjoyed at home during lockdown.
By the way, my beautiful hand-thrown mug is part of the Hebrides collection from The Crail Pottery in Fife – they are doing mail order at the moment, so do pop over and have a look at their gorgeous ceramics. And pay a visit to The Star Inn if you’re in the area once they’re fully open as a pub again.
