Daisy, Daisy

One of my resolutions this year was to be more organised with my designs, so I’m really pleased to be able to launch my new daisy collection well ahead of the start of spring.

Daisies are bright, cheerful flowers, blooming from early in the year, right through to late autumn. They are also an important food source for pollinating insects.

I have made a couple of individual daisy pieces before, but this time these lovely flowers have inspired a whole collection.

I decided to use mixed metals to create the flowers, with silver for the petals, and brass for the golden centres.

The flowers were cut by hand from silver sheet, and given a petal-like texture with the edge of a hammer. Textured domes of brass were soldered to the centres. The flowers were then very slightly domed, to form a concave shape, oxidised to give them a subtle patina, and polished to a shine.

The collection includes earrings, necklaces, a bracelet, and a ring.

As well as looking pretty, these designs also have a symbolic meaning. In the language of flowers, the daisy represents innocence, purity, and true love. It is also the birth flower for the month of April. I have added sparkling faceted zircon gemstones to a couple of the designs, standing in for the April birthstone, which is diamond.

Obviously, they’re also perfect if you happen to be called Daisy!

You can find all of my daisy designs in my online shop now.
