For me, December has been a month of short days, beautiful low afternoon light, and spectacular sunsets. I find the days of late autumn can be quite gloomy and oppressive, especially here in the north of England, where it starts to go dark in early afternoon on overcast days.
This year, however, we’ve been lucky to have some really bright afternoons, with lingering light. The low sun casts long shadows, which emphasise every contour of the landscape.
It has made my afternoon walks a real joy, and carried me through to the other side of the winter solstice.
What stunning views you have! We are in the ‘soup’ of grey fog that often settles in our area at this time of year. Wishing you a peaceful end to 2018 and a sunny start to the new year!
Absolutely gorgeous.
