I spotted these black headed gulls perched on the railings of the footbridge in Rothbury yesterday afternoon. I was only able to get a couple of shots of them before a pedestrian crossed the bridge, and they scattered. Temporary indeed!
For any doubters out there, the black (or more accurately, dark chocolate brown) head that gives them their name is also a temporary feature, seen only in summer. These birds are already in their winter plumage.
“Temporary” is the theme for this week’s photo challenge, and as usual you can see other interpretations on The Daily Post blog.
