I thought I might have to delve back into the archive to find a photograph for this week’s photo challenge, vibrant not generally being the first word that springs to mind during January and February. However, due to the (so far) mild winter, things are growing, shooting and blooming, and there is a lot more colour around than you might think.
It was bright and sunny today, and I took all of these photographs during one 40 minute walk. Mostly the colours are shades of yellow and green, but tiny speedwell flowers provide some blue. The real stars, though, were last year’s brambles, many of which have now turned a rich, deep red, and they look stunning with the low sun illuminating them.
I’m grateful to the photo challenge for making me take a little more notice of all this vibrancy than I might otherwise have done whilst walking. It’s always good to dawdle a little and look around, rather than just striding on.
You can find many other vibrant photographs over on the Daily Post blog.
