Living fairly high up in the hills can have its drawbacks. On some days, we are shrouded in misty low cloud and drizzle, whilst down in the valley it’s clear. But sometimes, just occasionally, it works in our favour. When the conditions are right, the mist lies in the valley, leaving us floating above in bright sunshine.
The photograph was taken in January, and it’s one of the most dramatic examples of this that we have seen. The whole valley is filled with mist, making it look like we’re standing on a cliff top above the sea. Just to give you an idea, the view from this point usually looks more like the smaller picture.
You can see that what appears to be a peninsula is in fact the highest point of a tree-covered hillside, and whilst it is a lovely view, it’s not quite as magical and mysterious as it looks in the mist.
