weekly photo challenge: warmth

We had our first real snow of the winter overnight, and it has continued to fall on and off for most of the day. Today was also my first day back in the workshop after Christmas. I really need to build up my stock again, after a busy few weeks. Luckily, I have lots of ideas, and some rather splendid new tools with which to carry them out.

My workshop can be a bit on the chilly side. I have a paraffin heater down there, but on cold days I like to light the woodburner. It took a while to get going properly today (no idea why), but once it did, it smouldered beautifully, warming the whole room, and providing a comforting red glow as it grew dark.

I was very glad of its warmth, as the temperature didn’t get above freezing all day, and it’s forecast to drop to -10 overnight. Sophie cat sleeps in the workshop, so no doubt she’ll be very glad of it smouldering away during the night too.

  1. I love wood burners! We have just installed one here in our home in Perth but will have to wait a few months until it is cold enough to light it (maybe early May)! Hope you are keeping warm! Wishing you a very Happy New Year and look forward to reading more of your posts in the coming year 🙂
