A beautiful bright December day, and the Christmas lights are going up in Brioude.
Brioude is our nearest town, about 20 minutes away in the car, and we usually visit a couple of times a week. We were there yesterday to post some earrings to a customer, and we found people hard at work putting the finishing touches to the Christmas decorations.
These ones, in the square outside the Marie, look like little chimney sweep brushes. I’m sure they’ll be a bit more impressive when they’re lit up!
Elsewhere, there are icicle lights strung across the smaller side streets, spiral shapes hanging in the trees, and these giant baubles in the square outside the cathedral.
I’m not sure when they get switched on, but there is a big Christmas market from 21st – 23rd December, so I’m looking froward to wandering round the stalls beneath the lights, possibly with a cup of mulled wine to keep the cold at bay.
